The world has changed a lot

Yes, the world has changed a lot in the last 3 years! The pandemic has shaken us up and forced us to review our priorities. For the best, I dare to believe.

But we had to adapt.

We needed resilience, to go with the current.

Nothing went as planned.

For those who are used to planning everything (I know some of them), we had to learn to let go. A whole lesson, you will tell me!

During the long period of the pandemic, people needed to express themselves. And emotions, we had them! Once the pandemic was behind us, we needed to communicate, to finally find ourselves together.

Improvisation, even if it is a form of musical expression, allows you to express your deepest feelings. At the very least, in its freest form. And it teaches us to let go, to go with the flow of ideas, to adapt and to bypass obstacles.

And it also allows you to get together and create music “on the moment”, by exchanging at a very deep level with others, by establishing a CONNECTION.

And we all need that, pandemic or not.

I hear: “It takes long studies to be able to improvise with others”.

No. Not to start at least. We can of course deepen this art afterwards, there is no end!

With a certain basis, through simple techniques accessible to all, some well-felt notes and rhythms, we can already create a musical universe that will allow us to express our emotions in music and communicate with others.

“I have no notions of harmony or counterpoint”.

This is not necessary for the form of improvisation I propose. It’s a good thing, understand me well, but not essential to start.

I want to quote you St-Exupéry: “We can only see well with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes.”

The HEART. It is to him that we must confide when we improvise, with the means we currently have.

We will deepen them as you go along, these means. By adding layers of understanding, vocabulary and theory.

But we can start…from now!

Let’s improvise together!
