3. Withdrawal
A full-year commitment is strongly encouraged. As places are limited, I refuse students at the beginning of the year to give your child a slot. Demand becomes less frequent during the year. I suggest a thorough discussion with parents before making the decision to stop. The year is full of ups and downs, and sometimes it's just a matter of rekindling motivation. If however, the student decides to stop, the lesser of the two amounts will be charged: $50 or 10% of the remaining fees.
Unfortunately, I will have to dismiss a student if any of these circumstances occur:
- Failure to pay tuition on time
- Persistent absences
- Uncooperative attitude
- Not following practice as instructed
Lack of progress due to insufficient practice or unfulfilled requirements.
4. Materials
- Notebooks assigned by the teacher (the teacher might send some PDFs occasionally)
- A ring binder for photocopies
- A good quality piano or keyboard (88 keys with the sensitive key) and a bench at the right height
5. Absences and lateness
Tardiness: students are expected to attend class on time. If he or she is late, the lesson will end at the scheduled time. Even if I'm at home for distance learning, I need to define my schedule.
My breaks are designed to help me organize, breathe and take other necessary steps to help me teach you as effectively as possible. For this reason, I ask that you do not arrive earlier or stay later than your class time.
Absences: the student must give the teacher at least 48 hours' notice (illness, death, etc.), the sooner the better. The course will not be reimbursed. I will make a video of the material to be worked on during the week during the student's class at the scheduled time.
6. Daily practice is strongly encouraged
20 minutes (beginner) 30 minutes (intermediate) 40 minutes (advanced). Minimum of 5 practices/week. A student who has not practiced sufficiently during the year may not be admitted to the class the following year.
7. Media
From time to time, I publish photos and videos of my teaching, either to inspire other music teachers about my teaching, or to promote my studio. You can let me know if you'd like only your child's first name to be identified (or not) on my Facebook page and website. In general, young people come away feeling motivated and honoured. The start of classes is considered acceptance of these terms.
8. Business hours
You can reach me Monday to Friday between 9:00 and 18:30.
